THE RACING SEASON
(Feature Film)
WRITER: Steven John Austin
GENRE: Drama, Romance
SYNOPSIS:

IAN HENNESSY is on the lam, running -- from his conscience, from his past. He has squandered a privileged upbringing for dangerous thrills and quick riches. In a sweltering South American capital, he searches for asylum, knowing it will come at a price. When he encounters a beautiful woman he had once loved, he must choose between a new life with her or take part in the country's violent corruption in exchange for his own safety.

.......

HENNESSY, mid-40's, Irish, is a fugitive wanted for financing illegal arms deals. Rugged, unexpectedly charming, HENNESSY dreams of breeding horses,

training a stable of winners like his father -- but now there is a price on his head, his assets are frozen, and brutal SERBIAN KIDNAPPERS stalk him. Using old school ties, swearing he never wants to see another gun again, he relies on a small group of friends to survive beyond the law's reach.

Attending a horse auction, HENNESSY discovers CHANCE, early 30's, an English beauty who was once his father's stable manager -- a girl whose heart HENNESSY broke when she was 19. Though she has never forgotten him, CHANCE is guarded, telling HENNESSY that she has married into a powerful local family and has a young son.

After the SERBIANS recklessly attempt to seize HENNESSY, he seeks out CHANCE again, tracking her down to a make-shift hospital where she cares for sick Indian children. There, she reveals that her husband is dead and that she is struggling to regain custody of her son from her influential in-laws.

As HENNESSY and CHANCE gradually fall in love again, the terms of HENNESSY's asylum are drawn by the country's criminal elite: finance an important arms deal in trade for future safety or be released into the hands of the ruthless SERBS.
